Pressure Ulcer Care
Pressure Ulcer Care
Pressure ulcers (bedsores) are injuries to the skin and underlying tissue caused by prolonged pressure, typically in bedbound or immobile patients. A specialized nurse visits your home for the prevention and care of these ulcers, using aseptic technique and working in close coordination with the treating physician.
Who It’s For
This service is for bedbound patients, people with limited mobility, the elderly, and those recovering from surgery or a hospital stay involving long periods in bed. It is suitable both for prevention and for the care of existing ulcers, following assessment and a physician’s instructions.
What It Includes
- Assessment & staging: Evaluation of the skin’s condition and staging of the ulcer to guide the plan of care.
- Cleaning & dressings: Cleaning the area with aseptic technique and applying appropriate dressings according to the stage and condition of the wound.
- Prevention & repositioning: Guidance on regular repositioning, skin care, and the use of pressure-relieving aids to protect points of pressure.
Safety & Procedure
Care is provided by a certified nurse following all hygiene and safety standards. Monitoring of the ulcer’s progress and any adjustment to the care plan are always made in coordination with your treating physician.
