IV Catheter Placement
IV Catheter Placement
Placing a peripheral venous catheter provides reliable intravenous access for the administration of fluids, medications, or therapies ordered by a physician. A specialized nurse visits your home, inserts the catheter using aseptic technique, and ensures it is properly secured, monitored, and replaced in a timely manner.
Who It’s For
Suitable for patients who need intravenous therapy at home, bedbound patients, elderly people with limited mobility, and those continuing treatment after a hospital stay. It supports both the continuation of scheduled therapies and securing venous access on a physician’s instruction.
What It Includes
- Assessment & preparation: Evaluating the veins, selecting an appropriate site, and preparing the skin with an antiseptic.
- Catheter placement: Insertion of a peripheral venous catheter with sterile single-use materials and aseptic technique, with secure fixation.
- Monitoring & care: Checking the insertion site, caring for the catheter, and replacing it in a timely manner, in coordination with the treating physician.
Safety & Procedure
Placement is performed by a certified nurse following all hygiene and safety standards. The insertion site is monitored for signs of irritation or inflammation and the catheter is replaced in good time, while any therapy administered is always determined by your physician.
