Blood Sugar & Insulin
Blood Sugar & Insulin
Home blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration support proper diabetes management in the patient’s familiar environment. A specialized nurse takes the blood glucose measurements, administers insulin in line with the treating physician’s written orders, and educates the patient and family in safe self-management.
Who It’s For
Ideal for bedbound patients, elderly people with limited mobility, those newly diagnosed with diabetes who need guidance, and anyone who finds it difficult to perform measurements or injections on their own. It supports both routine monitoring and transitions to a new regimen ordered by a physician.
What It Includes
- Blood glucose measurement: A capillary sample taken with sterile single-use materials, with values recorded for the physician.
- Insulin administration: Injection strictly in line with the treating physician’s written orders, using correct technique and site rotation.
- Education & monitoring: Guidance for the patient and family on self-monitoring, insulin storage, and recognizing signs that require informing the physician.
Safety & Procedure
All actions are performed by a certified nurse following hygiene and safety standards. Dosing and any change to the regimen are determined solely by the treating physician, while recorded values are shared to support ongoing monitoring.
