Eftychia Trompouki
Handles speech therapy for children and adults, from articulation disorders through to dysphagia and language rehabilitation after a neurological event.
Background & career
Eftychia Trompouki is a graduate of the Department of Speech-Language Therapy at the University of Ioannina. She has taken part in the university's research programmes, among them iRead (Horizon 2020), working on the speech-therapy assessment of children, and today runs her own Speech Therapy Centre in Ioannina.
At Komvos Ygeias she handles speech, language and swallowing cases. For adults that mainly means rehabilitation after a neurological event, dysarthria, communication support in dementia and Parkinson's disease, voice disorders and dysphagia management. For children, articulation disorders, delayed speech and language, learning difficulties and dyslexia.
Sessions take place either in the patient's home, when travelling is difficult or the care plan calls for it, or at her centre in Ioannina. For patients with dysphagia she works closely with the team's nurses and the treating physician so that feeding stays safe.
